Welcome to What’s Up! We hope you’ll check in on a regular basis to read about your teen’s adventure while it’s happening.

What to expect this summer:

Email notification
If you would like to receive an email notification whenever trip journals from a particular particpant’s program are posted, please drop us an email at friendsandfamily@gobroadreach.com. Make sure to tell us your email address, the name of the participant and the participant’s trip code.

Updates are written by the participants
With the exception of Underwater Discoveries, Underwater Discoveries Advanced and Underwater Discoveries Explorer, the participants, generally the student leader of the day, write the updates. Topics discussed, writing style and grammar will depend on the individual student, and limits to the group’s schedule, and may not be what you expect. Spelling and punctuation errors, as well as teen vernacular may be commonplace, and kids tend to write more details on food and friendships rather than the activities! The group may not write updates every day for any number of reasons. Although the trip journal is often a high priority for parents, it is not always for students.

On the Underwater Discoveries, Underwater Discoveries Advanced and Underwater Discoveries Explorer programs, updates are written and posted periodically by the support boat, and are more general in nature. From time to time, photos will be posted with the updates.

Updates are generally posted every 5-7 days
The frequency of updates varies from program to program. The staff on program posts the updates, and frequency is dictated by the group’s itinerary, ease of internet access and ability to find time in the group’s busy schedule. Our staff understands your desire to hear news, but the kids come first. As difficult as it may be, we ask that you be patient when waiting for updates and read them within the framework of their intended purpose.

Please do not call the Broadreach office about What’s Up
The office has no control over the frequency or quality of the updates. They are written and posted on program. If you have not seen an update in several days, try to be patient. Our office staff is very busy in the summer helping families and staff with travel and program logistics.

Expect to be jealous
Your teen is on the adventure of a lifetime. Reading about their adventures may make you wish you were a teen again!
